The 2023-2024Shannon Foundation Grants were awarded to 16 local teachers in Charlottesville and Albemarle Public Schools. CATEC's Construction Trades program was awarded $5,000 for the purchase of a new bandsaw. The grant proposal, titled Strike Up the Band, requested a new bandsaw so program students will have access to equipment that will progress their knowledge and skills toward proficiency in the use of relevant and modern equipment. This new equipment will support students' mastery of skills essential to their trade. Students will use the bandsaw to create professional-quality products for the community. These purchases will provide student activity funds for related CTE classes. Thank you to Dr. John Baran for submitting and supporting the grant proposal!
